What is Salvestrol
Salvestroles belong to the class of vital plant substances (secondary plant substances) that are metabolised in cancer cells in humans by the tumour cell-specific enzyme CYP1B1 and thereby trigger a number of different processes up to cell death, which then lead to a standstill or even a decrease in cancer.

Inside fruits and vegetables, salvestroles are part of the defence mechanism of plants. Salvestrols are phytoalexins whose formation is triggered by invading pathogens. If, for example, a ripe fruit is attacked by a fungus, the synthesis of a salvestrol specific for this pathogen is triggered. Salvestrols are formed at the site, usually in the fruit’s skin or in the root of the plant, and penetrates the pathogen.

The defense mechanism of salvestrols
The defence mechanism of salvestrols shows a number of pleasing properties.
1. It does no harm. The toxic substances created by the metabolism of salvestroles by CYP1B1 are found exclusively in the cancer cells and are consumed when the cells are destroyed.
2. The mechanism is based on nutrients; it depends exclusively on enzymatic activation and certain factors that should also be part of our daily diet.
3. The mechanism reveals a clear and easily understandable relationship between diet and cancer, which can serve as an incentive for dietary change.
4. CYP1B1 is now widely regarded as a universal cancer marker due to its ubiquitous presence in various cancers. Because of its universality, the same defence mechanism can be used regardless of the origin of the cancer.eingesetzt werden.
Salvestrols in food
Our food needs are complex and a defence mechanism cannot function in complete isolation. Therefore factors are important which maximize the effectiveness of salvestrols. First and foremost, this includes a change in diet to products from organic farming. This not only reduces the intake of potential cytochrome P450 inhibitors, but also improves the supply of salvestrols and useful vital substances.
Physical exercise is also important to ensure that enough oxygen is available, which is needed for the optimal metabolic activity of CYP1B1. In short: Paying attention to a good diet supports the defence mechanism to a high degree.

The salvestrol points are a unit of measurement for the amount of salvestrol given with one capsule. The minimum recommended daily intake is estimated to be 100 points. A person with a body weight between 77 and 84 kg should take 4200 points daily as the maximum dose for therapeutic use.

What is CYP1B1?
Cytochrome P450 1B1 (CYP1B1) is an extrahepatic, drug-degrading enzyme. Recent advances at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute have shown that CYP1B1 is overexpressed in all primary human tumours and minimally expressed in normal critical tissues. This invention provides methods both for the immunotherapeutic targeting of CYP1B1-expressing cells and for monitoring the progress of this approach.
This technology can be used either for the treatment of pre-existing cancers (including bladder, brain, colon, lung and kidney) or as a prophylactic measure to prevent disease occurrence or recurrence in patients at risk. In both cases, immunotherapy is initially based on antigen-presenting cells that take up and process the protein or peptide antigen CYP1B1; a series of subsequent events leads to the activation of cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs), the target cells that express the antigen, multiply and kill.
Therapy progress can be monitored by contrasting CYP1B1-specific CTL values with those from the pre-vaccinated (or pre-stimulated in ex vivo methods) state.
Cancer therapeutics usually do not differentiate between cancer and normal cells, which leads to considerable toxicity. Since CYP1B1 expression is limited in normal tissue and strongly expressed in human cancers, immunotherapy against CYP1B1-expressing cells is much more specific.
Furthermore, in contrast to several epitopes in other tumour-associated antigens, CYP1B1 contains epitopes that are characterised by a high binding affinity for the large histocompatibility complex (MHC); MHC binding and MHC peptide complex stability are important parameters that influence the immunogenicity of MHC peptides
Salvestrol has natural synergists which enhance the effect of salvestrols.
Biotin (vitamin H) promotes the production of CYP enzymes, including CYP1B1, while magnesium and niacin stimulate the salvestrols activation mechanism Iron forms the core of the CYP1B1 enzyme, and vitamin C protects salvestrols from premature oxidation and potentially provides CYP1B1 with electrons needed for metabolic conversion.

Attention! The effect of salvestrole is affected by vitamin B17. In therapies with apricot kernels, salvestrol must not be used at the same time.
